St Paul’s to be demolished
UK mining company Vedanta intends to strip mine the Niyamgiri mountain in the Indian state of Orissa for bauxite, despite the desperate protests of the area’s inhabitants, the Dongria Kondh, Kutia Kondha and Jharania tribes, who both hold the mountain sacred and depend on it for their livelihoods. To highlight the case, ActionAid has applied to demolish St Paul’s Cathedral in London. This is a fair case of like for like – if as a British citizen you would take exception to the destruction of St Paul’s, then please consider signing this petition to the Indian government to stop the mining project too. More information on the situation in Orissa can be found here.
